Last week UXA hosted an intern panel where we got to learn about landing an internship and how to make the most of your summer. Our intern panel came from a number of different backgrounds and interned at some awesome companies (Microsoft, HP, Phillips, IA Collaborative, Google)!
Our panelists walked us through the process of applying to internships, the interview process, and some highlights from their summer. Here are some key pieces of advice from our panel:
- ⌛ Start applying and looking for internships early!
- 🤝 Make use of 1-on-1 meetings during interviews and network! Keep networking whenever you have the chance both during interviews and throughout your internship.
- 🗣️ Preparation for interviews is key. Resume prep and practice for ideation interviews will help you in interviews!
- 🧠 When interviewing, know not only the company but also the interviewer!
- 🤩 An internship is a great chance to meet people who work in the discipline you’re interested in as well as people who don’t work in your discipline.
- 💡 An internship is your opportunity to learn about a company but also about your own interests!
